Access audits and Access Statements

It is essential to know what you have got and what works or does not work before you make any changes.  If you are planning new works, ensuring that plans will meet your statutory obligations towards accessibility can save thousands of pounds if work has to be done again.

An access audit will review what is currently in place and give recommendations which will be prioritised enabling organisations to make appropriate changes to their buildings, practices and procedures.
We audit your plans and make recommendations before building works commence.
An Access Statement is a clear accurate written report on the current access of an organisation.  It describes how any potential visitor or employee would access your services.  It is a living document which will  be updated as any changes are made to the building or procudures.  It enables informed decisions to be made, even when the original decision maker is no longer in  post.

What areas need to be reviewed for accessibility?

All areas accessible to members of the public - particularly point-of-contact, whether that is personal, phone or electronic.

All literature, brochures, production information and advertising material - application forms, staff information and notice boards.

Communication - verbal or non-verbal - is it working?

Attitude - are you giving a positive image?

Policy and procedures - do they reflect best practice?
